Design and make an animated illusion which is similar to how film-makers produce animated movies

In this project, we are going to make an animated illusion, here is an example:

當我們把一塊透明膠片向右移動時,你會看到一連串略有不同的影像,腦把這些影像結合,並詮釋為一隻豹正在奔跑。

學生現在可以透過簡單繪圖,或使用圖像設計軟件,設計和製作錯覺動畫!

When we move the plastic sheet from left to right, we will see a series of slightly different images. Our brain combines the images and interprets them as a moving picture of a running cheetah.

Students can now design and make their own animated illusions by simply drawing and using graphic design software like Photoshop!


第一部分設計自己的圖案Part A—Design your own pattern

老師會把全班分成數組。試和你的組員合作設計和製作錯覺動畫。

Your teacher will divide the class into groups. Collaborate with your group members to design and make an animated illusion.

1.
如所示在一張白紙(白紙A)上繪畫一個網格。
在這個簡單的例子中,黑線和白線的闊度是相同的。
Draw a grid as shown on a piece of white paper (paper A).
In this simple example, the width of black lines equals the width of white lines.
2.
在第二張白紙(白紙B)上繪畫一個簡單圖案,並剪下來。
我們將會用一個簡單的箭號作示範。你應繪畫一個自己的圖案。
On a second piece of paper (paper B), design a simple pattern and cut it out.
Here we use an arrow as an example, you should design your own pattern.

第二部分製作錯覺動畫Part B—Make an animated illusion
1.
用美工刀把網格上的黑線剪成一條條狹縫,然後把第三張較小的白紙(白紙C)插入狹縫中。 Use a cutter to cut out the black lines of the grid into slits and insert a third piece of white paper (paper C) into the slits.
2.
利用剪下的圖案,在白紙C上勾畫出圖案的輪廓。把勾畫出的輪廓填上顏色。 Using the cut-out pattern, draw the outline of the pattern on paper C and fill the outlined shape with colour.
3.
把勾畫出的輪廓向左邊的狹縫滑動一格,使輪廓「消失」。 Slide paper C one slit to the left to make the shape ‘disappear’.
4.
再次把剪下的圖案放在白紙C上,改變其位置(例如旋轉或左右倒轉),並勾畫其輪廓。你已在白紙C上製成一個屬於自己的錯覺動畫圖案! Change the position of your cut-out pattern (eg. rotate or flip) and draw its outline on paper C again. You have made a picture on paper C which is ready for animated illusion!
5.
你現在可以把白紙C由左至右移動,體驗自己製作的錯覺動畫! You can now move your picture from left to right and experience an animated illusion!
6.
看看哪一組能製作出最具創意的錯覺動畫吧! Let’s see which group can create the most creative animated illusion!
